If you are one of the many people having a snowstorm today, you are probably like me…snowed in! The kids love the snow, especially since it is our first big snow. I like one good storm myself but being stuck inside can give me cabin fever. So I have learned to relax but to also do some productive things to make my day successful. Nothing makes me feel more accomplished than being frugal! Here are five frugal things you can do along with me on a snow day!
1. Bake- I am not only baking things to enjoy now but also to freeze so we have some in the house. I am making cranberry walnut (Betty Crocker package on sale from after Christmas sale) and banana bread with some frozen bananas I had.
2. Make Freezer Meals-I must admit, I am not that great at these. I usually only have one or two handy frozen meals in my freezer at a given time. But if you have the ingredients, today is a perfect day to make some meals. Check out these posts on Pinterest to get you started
3. Sort through kids clothes to donate or consign- This is sort of the mid winter mark so it is a good time to double check which clothes may been worn or outgrown. If you have clothes put away, take them out and see if they are ready to be worn. Take the clothes that are too weathered and donate them. Take any clothes in good condition and get them ready to consign. Some consignment shops take seasonal so you may have to find a place to store winter clothes until next year. But some shops take all seasons all year round. Also, taking note of the clothes you have makes you aware what of what you may need to replace or buy for this or next year. Helps you to not over buy things that you already have or forgotten about.
4. Sort through toys- While you are sorting clothes, you might as well sort through toys as well. Toss what is broken or missing pieces. Consign or donate what is in good condition and just not played with anymore.
5. Do online surveys-Grab a warm beverage and check out some survey sights. Doing surveys will bring in a few extra dollars which can quickly add up. Check out some of my favorite sites.
