One of the more productive tasks I have taken on over the past several weeks is a declutter challenge. I have challenged myself to get rid of 5 things each day. Of course I can always get rid of more but 5 is my daily goal. Some days this is very easy. I have done a great job with my daughters’ clothes and shoes. I have also been trying to reduce the amount of paper clutter in my house. To keep track of my challenge I have downloaded and printed a monthly calendar (this is the one I use) and I write the 5 items in the appropriate box. Now for me, 5 pieces of paper does not meet the challenge. If I get rid of paper clutter, I count that as 1 item for the day. That is also the case for things like magazines or newspapers. But I HAVE counted one mismatched sock as one item or one plastic knife as one item. I just use my best judgment for this. The end result is to get rid of unused and unwanted things. Some things I have kept for consignment (those items I have not technically counted in my 5 items because they haven’t left my house yet). Some items are being donated. Those are bagged up and in the garage so those items were counted towards the challenge. Some items were trashed or recycled.
Along these lines, one of my favorite blogger’s Rachel from Sweet and Simple Home is taking part in the “One Box Spring Cleaning Challenge“. She invited people to fill one box with things from their home to donate or trash. She also invited you to share videos telling about your items and why they are going. Here is me telling you about the items I am getting rid of and why. You too can join this challenge as well!

May 7, 2020I was just saying to my husband that there are a couple places in our home that I would LOVE to tackle in the coming days… This is a great way to do it! We were blessed to have a walk in closet in our bathroom, for example. However, consider how much JUNK can accumulate in a bathroom walk in closet… It really needs a declutter. I’m going to take this approach starting tomorrow.
