June is National Dairy month. There should be sales and stock up deals on popular dairy products. Here is what you need to know about freezing dairy products so that you can buy it now and use it later.
Cream Cheese- Put unopened package of cream cheese in freezer, squeeze out excess air and seal the bag. Can freeze for up to 6 months.
Eggs- Raw eggs can be cracked into a glass or plastic container. You can also scramble the yolks and the egg whites together. Freeze them into freezer bags. Can freeze for up to 9 months.
Butter- Put butter well wrapped or in original container directly in freezer. Unsalted butter can be stored in the freezer for up to six months. Salted for up to 12 months.
Milk- Pasteurized homogenized milk can be frozen for up to 1 month. Leave room at top for expansion space. Can freeze for up to 6 months.
Cheese- Blocks of cheddar cheese and shredded cheese that are packaged can be put in freezer just as it is. Can freeze for up to 6 months.
Cottage Cheese- Place cottage cheese container into a freezer bag, squeeze out the excess air and seal the bag. Can freeze for up to 6 months.
Sour Cream- Place sour cream container into a freezer bag, squeeze out the excess air and seal the bag. Can freeze for up to 6 months
Yogurt- Place yogurt container into a freezer bag, squeeze out the excess air and seal the bag. Can freeze for up to 6 months

May 29, 2020Mind blown!!! I had no idea I could freeze milk or cottage cheese. This would have been super helpful a couple of months ago when it was scarce. I remember going to the store, finding milk, and wanting to buy extra – but I knew I couldn’t use it all before it expired. So good to know for the future!
