We Live in a Land of Many Colors~Should We ALL Read This?

by Wednesday, June 24, 2020

The Land of Many Colors is written as a primary children’s book that many people today could benefit from reading. Written in June 1993 by Rita Peacock and her preschool class, this 27-year-old book takes place in a pretend world where each color thinks they are the best. Throughout this book the author recognizes the emotions of each color. The end result teaches tolerance of differences, sharing and ways to solve problems. Although the book says it is for preschool aged children, the messages and themes should resonate with all of us. There are lessons to be learned for all ages. Follow this link but look under used copies.

I began reading this to my first and second grade classes back in the late ’90s. My students reread this book so much that my paperback copy fell apart and I had to re-order a new one. One of my best purchases ever!

I am a retired teacher. I am taking care of my grandson. Can’t wait to read this book to him.

Very interesting approach, I’ve never heard about the book, I should give it a try!
