August is a great month for sales and it is time to stock up on those items that will be at their best prices!
Check out some of these specific items you should be looking for on your shopping days!
1. Summer Fruits and Veggies- Peaches, corn, summer squash and tomatoes are all in season and at great prices. Stock up! Freeze, can, and dehydrate what you can. You will also start to see apples be on sale at the end of the month as we head into September!
2. Summer Paper Goods – I was in Walmart yesterday and saw tons of paper goods on sale. Also saw a ton at Michael’s. Don’t forget to check the clearance aisles!
3. Summer Apparel -Anything stores have not gotten rid of they want out! What better time to try on a bathing suite than now when you already have a tan rather than in May when you are pasty white? Plus the prices will so much better! Tanks, short, tshirts, sundresses, flip-flops and sandals will hit rock bottom low prices!!
4. Grilling Items– Keep an eye out for grill spatulas, brushes etc. These will also be significantly marked down this month!
5. Beach Gear – Lawn chairs, beach towels, boogie boards, rafts and floats, pails and shovels will all be considerably marked down. Stores want these larger items off their shelves!
6. Outdoor Furniture – If you want to replace your outdoor cushions or accessories now is the time to look for markdowns! Patterns and prints may be picked over but prices will be at their best!
7. Summer Housewares – Those cute summer dishes you saw back in May will now be marked down 50 to 90% off! Check out stores like Bed, Bath and Beyond, TJMaxx/Marshalls, Home Goods, Walmart and Target. Also summer dish towels, bath towels, bathroom accessories and placemats, all summer themed, will be marked down to their lowest prices!
8. Gardening Supplies– How happy will you be next spring when you have these already on hand? Plus you can freeze unused seeds for next year!
9. School Supplies – Of course this is a no-brainer. This is the time where you need to check around for the cheapest prices! Everything will be on sale. Stores are competing for your business. Don’t just think of your typical back-to-school supply stores (Staples, Walmart, Target). Grocery stores and drug stores have lots of great deals as well. Check their sale circulars each week. Be sure to check the blog for back-to-school sales as well!
This also includes backpacks and lunch boxes! Look for deals where when you buy a backpack you get a lunchbox for free!
10. Snacks – Individual size bags of chips and pretzels, fruit snacks, fruit roll ups, granola bars, yogurts… will all start to be on sale this month. Stock up as much as you can! Stock up on those big bags too and make individual sized bags yourself with reusable baggies!
